Mesa Verde National Park is unique in that it tells stories both of American wilderness and rich human history. The 52,000 acre park was first designated in 1906 to protect more than 5,000 known archaeological sites that had been found there. The park is best known for its preserved cliff dwellings, archaeological proof that the Ancestral Puebloan people made the cliffs their homes as far back as 600 BC. Today, half a million people visit the park each year to learn about the archaeological sites and to quite literally look through the windows of time itself, able to see how people lived in the region centuries ago. Anderson Design Group honored the park in its own, early-1900s travel art illustration and vintage poster art, depicting one of the many cliff dwellings found within Mesa Verde's protected borders. This original National Park art would make an excellent addition to home or office decor as a print, poster, notecard, postcard, canvas, framed print, or metal sign.
