The legend of El Dorado tells the story of a mythical city of gold located in South America, where the ruler, known as "El Dorado" (meaning "the gilded one" in Spanish), would cover himself in gold dust and then plunge into a sacred lake to wash it off, leading to the belief of a city filled with immense wealth. Many explorers have searched for El Dorado over the years, only to find ancient stone ruins, disease, or death in the tropical jungle. This legend may have originated from stories about the Muisca people of modern-day Colombia, where a similar ritual was practiced by their chief, who would cover himself in gold dust during a ceremony at Lake Guatavita. Inspired by the legend of this lost world, the artists of Anderson Design Group have created a Fantasy Travel Poster depicting the underwater resting place of the mythical city of Atlantis. These original hand-illustrated prints would make a great gift for any history, fantasy, or travel buff. This enchanting design will make an epic accent as a poster, canvas, metal sign, postcard, or note card.
