Badlands National Park is home to a sweeping formation of eroding sandstone buttes, pinnacles, and spires. At first sight, the Badlands may even look a little imposing, haunted even. Upon closer inspection, a visitor to the Badlands may find out that these lonely, desolate rock formations ARE haunted! The Badlands Banshee is a ghost of a woman who is said to haunt the Badlands, with many visitors to the park reporting hearing her shrieking cry, especially around Watch Dog Butte. As the legend goes, the Badlands Banshee is the ghost of a woman who died there before her time. Some say her lover also died there, which is why she screams. Others say she was pushed off the top of one of the buttes, where she fell to her death. No matter the origin of the story, her scream continues to chill the souls of visitors to the Badlands to this day. Intrigued by the story of the Banshee of the Badlands, Anderson Design Group poster artists hand-rendered a vintage illustration of the Banshee, available as a poster, print, banner, canvas, notecard, or postcard. And to learn more about the Banshee, check out the website for Legends of America.
