But many German residents and visitors alike would agree that the Neuschwanstein Castle is the jewel of Germany. The castle was completed in 1869. It was built for King Ludwig II, though the King only spent 11 nights there. Today, Neuschwanstein Castle is a German icon. The castle receives as many as 6,000 visitors per day!
